Kira July 1996 to February 2008

Unfortunately Kira got sick and stopped eating so I had to make the hardest decision of my life and I let her go.

This was Kira, Kennel club name Keep It Real Alright (it spells out her name). She was born in July of 1996, her Mum was a shorthaired collie x and her Dad a Rough Collie, which makes her a 'Working Sheep Dog'. She is x-eyed has funny back legs (she kinda knocked kneed) suffers from waxy ears, but I love her.  She was my first dog and we started agility together in March 1997. We have been competing for about 5 years and during our long and industrious career we have had a grand total of one 7th,  a 3rd (and won out of  Elementary), a 10th, a 5th, an 8th and 4 clear rounds. Why you may ask yourself well, if we go wrong she starts to spin and when she starts to spin it’s very hard to stop her spinning without stopping at each jump and putting her in the down. She is also not too good at working on the right but that’s because we did a lot of obedience before we fell into the world of agility. Niki’s opinion is that’s is all me, I’m trying not to agree with her, but she keeps proving her point.

This photo was taken at DIN 2003 when we got a clear round and a 10th place on the same day. This year (2006) she got a 5th!

This gorgeous little honey is my baby Libby, Kennel club name Libby Blue Eye (because she's only got one blue eye). She was born Nov 1999, her Mum's name is Megan and her Dad Dave, she is ISDS registered, which made her expensive but worth every penny. It took two long years for me to teach her the command come, and during those two years she had no interest in Agility, in fact I was told she would never make an agility dog!! Now she is my star, she is fast, works away and if she does go clear she gets a place.  This is her 3rd season competing but last year she got a 6th in an open helter-skelter, two 4th's and a 2nd. This year (2008) she has had two 1st's (both helter-skelter's) a 2nd and a 15th in Novice and a load of 'If Only's!'. Maybe next season will will win out into Novice.
